According to official data, revenue from tertiary treatment plants has emerged as a vital financial source for the city’s development. The earnings over the last three financial years are as follows:
- 2023–24: ₹129.37 crore
- 2024–25: ₹121.44 crore
- 2025–26: ₹125.67 crore
Expansion to Hazira and Palsana
At present, the SMC supplies treated water to industrial units in Pandesara and Sachin. With strong demand from textile and chemical industries—both of which require large volumes of water and consider treated water a cost-effective alternative—the civic body is now planning to expand its supply network to industrial units in Hazira and Palsana.
The SMC currently operates tertiary treatment plants in Bamroli and Dindoli. Plans are underway to increase the number of such plants to meet rising industrial demand. DeshGujarat
