Student Hit in Eye with Compass While Stopping Fight at School in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad: A Class 8 student was seriously injured after being struck in the eye with a compass during a scuffle involving classmates at Isanpur Public School on Narol–Vatva Road.

The incident occurred on April 20 after exams concluded around 11:30 am. According to police and family members, two students got into an argument, during which a third student intervened to defuse the situation. In the course of the altercation, one of the students allegedly attacked him with a compass, causing severe injury to his eye.

Following the incident, a commotion broke out on the school premises and teachers were alerted. The injured student was initially rushed to LG Hospital and later shifted to Civil Hospital in Asarwa, where he underwent surgery and is currently under medical supervision.

The student’s father has lodged a complaint at Narol Police Station, and a case has been registered against the accused student. Police have begun further investigation into the matter.

Meanwhile, officials from the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), which runs the school, have sought a preliminary report. Dr. L.D. Desai, Executive Officer of the Municipal Primary Education Committee, stated that an inquiry has been assigned to the Assistant Executive Officer of the South Zone.

Preliminary inputs suggest the altercation may not have originated inside the classroom, and the exact sequence of events is being verified. Authorities said the full facts will emerge after a joint probe by the education committee and the police.

According to the student’s family, he sustained injuries to the upper and inner parts of the eye. The exact cause of the dispute between the students remains unclear, though initial inputs indicate it may have stemmed from a personal disagreement.

Narol Police Inspector J.B. Agrawat confirmed that the injured student was caught in a fight between two classmates and was hit in the eye with a compass. Further investigation is underway. DeshGujarat
