Ahmedabad: A video of Congress MLA Shailesh Parmar amid the local elections in the state has gone viral on social media, in which he is seen praying at a mazar (shrine) in the Danilimda area of the city.
In the video, Parmar is seen bowing his head at the shrine in the presence of other Congress candidates and workers, praying for victory. He is heard taking a pledge that he will visit the shrine again only if his entire panel wins. He further says that if the panel breaks, he would feel hurt upon returning to the shrine, and therefore he is praying with faith for the victory of the entire panel.
The video, reported to be from the Mohsin Bawa Mazar shrine in the Danilimda area, has created a political buzz, with tweeple calling it a display of “religious politics.”

Parmar is a third-time MLA from the Danilimda seat, which is reserved for candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes and has a large Muslim population.
In the video, Parmar also mentioned his family’s long-standing association with the shrine. He said that the tradition of visiting the shrine dates back to his father’s time. His father visited the shrine for 20 years, and he himself has been visiting it for the past 25 years, making it a total association of 45 years. DeshGujarat
