6 Killed as Private Bus Rams into Car on NH-48 Shamlaji – Ahmedabad Highway

Himmatnagar: At least six people were killed and six others seriously injured in a tragic road accident on National Highway 48 in North Gujarat on Wednesday morning.

The accident occurred near Jawangadh Patiya, close to Himmatnagar, when a speeding private bus rammed into a car from behind. The impact was so severe that the car was completely mangled, killing all six occupants on the spot.

According to preliminary information, the victims were residents of Sardoi village in Modasa and were travelling towards Koop at the time of the accident.

The injured were rushed to Himmatnagar Civil Hospital in 108 ambulances, where they are undergoing treatment. Police from Gambhoi station reached the spot soon after receiving information, shifted the bodies for post-mortem, and registered a case. Further investigation is underway.

The collision led to a temporary traffic disruption on the Shamlaji–Ahmedabad stretch of the highway. Authorities later cleared the road with the help of cranes.

Initial findings suggest that the accident may have been caused by an illegal cut on the highway divider. Officials suspect that the car was attempting to cross through the unauthorised opening when it was hit from behind by the bus.

Locals said illegal cuts and unsafe crossings have become common on the stretch, raising serious safety concerns. DeshGujarat
