April 29, 2026
Rajkot: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat on Tuesday conducted a trap operation in the city and apprehended a Central GST (CGST) Superintendent and another individual in a bribery case involving ₹20 lakh.
The accused have been identified as Mukesh Kumar Manbodh Kumar (43), Superintendent, CGST Division-1, Range-5, Rajkot, and Akash Rameshbhai Kaloliya (33), a tax consultant based in Rajkot.
According to the ACB, the accused Superintendent had demanded a bribe of ₹25,00,000 from the complainant to settle an application filed against him at the CGST office regarding non-payment of GST and issuance of false bills, and to avoid initiating a major case. After negotiations, it was agreed that ₹20,00,000 would be paid to Akash Kaloliya.
As the complainant was unwilling to pay the bribe, he approached the ACB. Based on the complaint, a trap was set up in Rajkot on Tuesday. During the operation, Akash, acting on behalf of Mukesh, contacted the complainant, demanded, and accepted the bribe amount of ₹20,00,000.
Both the accused were caught red-handed while accepting the bribe. Further investigation into the case is underway. DeshGujarat
