Ahmedabad Gets Three New Police Divisions, Three New Police Stations

Ahmedabad: In a move to strengthen law and order amid rapid urban expansion, the state Home Department has increased the number of local police stations in the city from 49 to 52 and approved the creation of one Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) post and three Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) posts.

As part of the restructuring, three new police stations will be set up in Vastral, Motera and Hanspura. The department has also notified a reorganisation of zones and divisions, creating a new Zone-8 and three new divisions P, R and S to streamline operations. Division P will fall under Zone-2, while divisions R and S will come under the newly created Zone-8.

Under the revised structure, Chandkheda, Motera and Sabarmati East police stations will fall under Division P.

Odhav, Nikol and New Vastral police stations will be part of Division R, while Vatva, Vatva GIDC and Ramol police stations will come under Division S.

The decision comes in response to Ahmedabad’s growing population and geographical spread, with the aim of improving policing efficiency and response time. Officials said the addition of new police stations and senior officers is expected to ease the rising workload on existing personnel and ensure quicker resolution of public complaints. DeshGujarat
