April 29, 2026
Surat: As part of the ongoing redevelopment of Western Railway’s Surat Railway Station, a key construction phase involving “through-roof launching” has commenced on Platforms 2, 3, and 4. In view of this work, temporary changes have been made to the operation of several trains until May 15.
Vineet Abhishek, Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, said the decision was taken after due consideration of passenger safety and train punctuality. Accordingly, temporary operational adjustments have been implemented for multiple services.
According to railway authorities, from April 29 to May 15, several trains will originate from or terminate at Udhna Station instead of Surat. Passengers have been advised to remain vigilant and plan their journeys accordingly during this period.
As per the official statement, the Bandra Terminus–Surat Superfast Express (12935) will be short-terminated at Udhna between April 29 and May 15, and will not run up to Surat. Effectively, the service will remain partially cancelled between Udhna and Surat.
Similarly, the Surat–Amravati Superfast Express (20925) will originate from Udhna instead of Surat from April 30 to May 15. Passengers from Surat will need to travel to Udhna to board the train.
The Amravati–Surat Superfast Express (20926) will also be short-terminated at Udhna and will not reach Surat between May 1 and May 15.
Railway authorities have urged passengers to check train schedules before commencing their journeys and make necessary adjustments. Anticipating increased passenger movement at Udhna Station, additional staff along with personnel from the Railway Protection Force (RPF) have been deployed to manage the situation.
Special Train Services Extended
To handle the surge in passenger demand, Western Railway has extended the operation of two pairs of weekly special trains.
The Mumbai Central–Kathgodam Weekly Special (09075) will run additional trips from May 6 to May 13, 2026. In the return direction, the Kathgodam–Mumbai Central Weekly Special (09076) will operate from May 7 to May 14.
Similarly, the Ahmedabad–Patna Weekly Special (09447) will run additional services from May 6 to May 13, while the Patna–Ahmedabad Weekly Special (09448) will operate from May 8 to May 15, 2026.
The railway administration said the extension is expected to ease passenger rush and improve ticket availability on high-demand routes.
