Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government has approved 17 new bus routes under the Chief Minister’s Urban Bus Service Scheme to strengthen public transport in three cities, aiming to improve connectivity and ease daily commuting. Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi cleared the proposal, which will expand bus services in Navsari, Vapi, and Palanpur.
Of the total, seven routes have been sanctioned for Navsari Municipal Corporation, four for Vapi Municipal Corporation, and six for Palanpur municipality in Banaskantha district.
As per the government press release, the move will provide affordable and convenient transport options across city limits, particularly benefiting industrial workers in Vapi and students and residents in Palanpur. The expansion is also expected to reduce dependence on private vehicles and ease urban traffic congestion.
As per the statement, the initiative aims to ensure time-bound, accessible public transport, with improved connectivity to peripheral areas. The government said modern buses deployed under the scheme will offer safer and more efficient travel, contributing to overall urban development and environmental sustainability. DeshGujarat
