Several Surat City Bus & BRTS Routes to Be Affected for Gujarat Gaurav Diwas Celebrations

Surat: The Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) has issued a formal notice detailing significant adjustments to the city’s BRTS and City Bus services scheduled for May 1, 2026, in observance of Gujarat Gaurav Divas. These changes are designed to accommodate large-scale cultural programmes at Dumas Sea Face and a parade attended by Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel.

To manage the anticipated crowds and ensure the safety of participants and the public, local police have implemented traffic restrictions starting at 8:00 AM on several major thoroughfares, including Dumas Sea Face Road, SK Nagar Char Rasta, and the area surrounding SVNIT Circle.

Impact on BRTS Services: The following BRTS routes will operate on limited segments from tomorrow morning until the conclusion of the events:

Route 12 (ONGC to Sarthana Nature Park): Service will only be active on the section between Someshwar and Sarthana Nature Park.

Route 14 (ONGC Colony to Kosad EWS H2): Operations will be restricted to the segment between Pal RTO and Kosad EWS H2.

City Bus Suspensions and Diversions: Commuters using the City Bus network will face significant disruptions, with several key routes entirely suspended until the programmes end:

Routes Completely Closed: 106R (Abhwa Gam–Railway Station), 136 (Airport–Railway Station), 153R (Umra Gam–Kapodra), 206 (Chowk Terminal–Siku Pithawala Eng. College), 216B (Chowk Terminal–Bhimpore), 216K (Chowk Terminal–Kaari Faliya Dumas), and 226J (Kosad Gam–VNSGU).

Diverted Services: Route 126R will be diverted via Joggers Park; Route 706 will travel via Gokuldham Deri, Ram Chowk, and the Science Centre; and Route 716 will be rerouted via Sardar Bridge.

Sitilink authorities have cautioned that additional routes may experience frequency adjustments or further diversions based on real-time traffic police instructions. Citizens are strongly encouraged to review these changes and plan their commutes accordingly to avoid delays during the state-level celebrations. DeshGujarat
