‘Will keep driving rickshaw,’ says auto driver after becoming BJP councillor in Bharuch

Bharuch: After contesting the civic body election on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket, an autorickshaw driver, Atul Mistry, has become a councillor of Bharuch Municipality.

Mistry, who won the polls from Ward No. 9, is also the general secretary of the Jai Bharat Autorickshaw Association and secured widespread support from voters. Known for his social work, Mistry is often called “108 service,” and his victory is being embraced by the driver community as their own. The win has sparked a sense of enthusiasm and pride among autorickshaw drivers.

Speaking after his victory, Mistry said he would continue driving his autorickshaw even after becoming a councillor.

Office-bearers of the association, including President Abidbeg Mirza, Vice President Ramesh Mistry, Treasurer Farooq Patel, City President Ajay Marwadi, and Taluka President Zakir Patel, along with members, congratulated him on his win.
