Uniform Summer Vacation Schedule Announced for Gujarat Schools

Ahmedabad: The state education department has announced the summer vacation schedule for the 2025–26 academic year for all primary and secondary schools.

As per a circular issued by the office of the Director of Education, government, grant-in-aid, and private schools will observe a uniform summer break starting May 4. The vacation will span 35 days and conclude on June 7, ensuring consistency across all categories of institutions.

The decision aims to align the academic calendars of primary and secondary schools, allowing students and staff across both levels to follow a common schedule.

Earlier, the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) had already fixed the summer vacation for Classes 9 to 12 from May 4 to June 7. To maintain uniformity, the Directorate of Primary Education has now issued a corresponding notification for primary schools.

The department has directed District Education Officers (DEOs) and District Primary Education Officers (DPEOs) to coordinate for the smooth implementation of the vacation schedule. However, institutions offering Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) programmes have been given flexibility to adjust their vacation period if required, subject to pending academic days and in line with court guidelines.
