Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad Metro recorded its highest-ever single-day ridership of 2,25,390 passengers during the IPL 2026 match between Gujarat Titans and Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Narendra Modi Stadium on April 30, the Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation announced today.
The milestone shows the metro’s growing role as a key mode of transport during large-scale events in the city, especially those hosted at the Motera-based Narendra Modi Stadium.
Event-Driven Passenger Surge
Official data shows that major sporting fixtures and concerts have consistently driven sharp increases in metro footfall. The latest IPL match has now topped previous high records, including:
221,066 passengers during the ICC T20 World Cup match (India vs Netherlands, February 18, 2026)
216,470 passengers during the Coldplay concert (January 25, 2025)
213,438 passengers during the India vs South Africa T20 match (December 19, 2025)

204,337 passengers during the ICC T20 World Cup match (New Zealand vs South Africa, February 14, 2026)
Other major events, including IPL fixtures and international matches, recorded ridership in the range of 190,000 to 200,000 passengers, reinforcing a consistent pattern of high metro usage during marquee occasions. DeshGujarat
