Rajkot: The district administration on Thursday demolished an illegal bungalow belonging to notorious absconding bootlegger Alimamad Tayyab Shetha in Bhayavadar town, as part of a crackdown on unlawful properties linked to criminal activity.

The action was carried out under tight police security in the presence of the mamlatdar. The structure, spread over about 300 sq m on government land along Makhiyala Road in Padwala village, was valued at nearly ₹1 crore, officials said.

Authorities said the demolition followed an inquiry into the accused’s assets. The probe revealed that the bungalow had been illegally constructed on government land. Despite being served three notices by local authorities, the encroachment was not removed, prompting action on instructions from the taluka development officer, Upleta.

Police said the accused has a criminal history, with around 13 offences registered against him, including murder, attempt to murder, assault, criminal intimidation, and Arms Act violations.

The demolition was conducted in the presence of R M Trivedi, TDO, Upleta, and Simran Bharadwaj, ASP, Dhoraji. Authorities said further action will continue against illegal properties linked to criminal elements. DeshGujarat
