Cop Killed in Crash with GSRTC Bus on Delhi – Mumbai Expressway near Vadodara

Vadodara: A police constable was killed on Saturday after his car rammed into the rear side of a GSRTC bus on the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway near Padra in Vadodara district.

The deceased, Bharat Desai, a constable with the Surat Rural Special Operations Group (SOG) and a resident of Alampur village in Gandhinagar, was returning to Surat from Vadodara when the accident occurred.

According to viral visuals of the accident, the collision was so severe that Desai’s car was completely crushed after crashing into the back of a bus travelling from Vadodara to Surat. He sustained fatal injuries and died on the spot. Rescue teams had to make considerable efforts to extricate his body from the mangled vehicle.

Following the incident, traffic movement on the expressway was briefly disrupted as a crowd gathered at the accident site.

A team from Padra police station reached the spot soon after being alerted, shifted the body for postmortem and initiated legal procedures. Police have registered a case against the bus driver and launched an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the accident. DeshGujarat
