Gujarat Extends Clinical Establishment Registration Deadline to Oct 31, 2026

Ahmedabad: The Health and Family Welfare Department has issued a notification extending the deadline for registration of clinical establishments under the Gujarat Clinical Establishments (Registration and Regulation) Act, 2021, in line with recent amendments passed by the state Assembly.

According to the notification dated April 30, 2026, all existing clinical establishments operating at the time of the Act’s commencement must apply for registration on or before October 31, 2026. New establishments set up after the Act came into force must apply within six months of establishment or by October 31, 2026, whichever is later.

The notification also specifies that for clinical establishments where standards have already been prescribed by the state government, provisional registration will not be granted or renewed beyond April 30, 2027.

The move follows the passage of the Gujarat Clinical Establishments (Registration and Regulation) (Amendment) Bill, 2026 in the Legislative Assembly, which was approved without opposition. The amendment empowers the state government to revise registration deadlines through official notifications, replacing the earlier fixed deadline of April 30, 2026.

Under the Act, registration is mandatory for all healthcare facilities, including small clinics, multi-specialty hospitals, and diagnostic laboratories. As of March 20, 2026, the state has issued around 41,000 provisional registrations and nearly 2,000 permanent registrations. DeshGujarat
