Gandhinagar: The Gujarat Legislative Assembly Secretariat has issued a notification granting enhanced travel entitlements to Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs), expanding their existing railway travel privileges across India.

According to the official order published in the Gujarat Government Gazette (Extraordinary), MLAs who were already entitled to travel by first-class or second-class air-conditioned coaches under the Gujarat Legislative Assembly Members’ Salaries and Allowances Act, 1960 will now also be eligible to travel in executive class or any class on all trains, including premium services such as Vande Bharat Express, Tejas Express, and Duronto Express.

The notification clarifies that this new provision is in addition to the existing travel benefits and does not alter other conditions specified under Section 5B of the Act. All other related provisions governing members’ travel will continue to remain in force.

The order has been issued by a committee constituted under Section 10 of the Act, in consultation with the state government, and has received approval from the Speaker of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly.

The revised travel entitlement has been made effective retrospectively from April 1, 2026. DeshGujarat
