Bhuj: The Special Operations Group (SOG) of West Kutch Police has arrested a 32-year-old man from Lodai village in Bhuj taluka for allegedly promoting the ideology of the terrorist organisation ISIS and attempting to incite people through social media, an official statement said.
The accused, identified as Fakirmamad Itha Gagda, was reportedly operating multiple social media accounts under fake identities, where he shared videos, images and messages aimed at radicalising individuals. Police said the content sought to mislead people and encourage support for the concept of “caliphate” and violent jihad, posing a threat to India’s sovereignty, unity and integrity.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the SOG team monitored the suspect’s online activities and verified evidence from his mobile phone and social media accounts, including platforms such as Instagram and Facebook. Investigators found that the accused had been actively circulating provocative material linked to extremist ideology.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of senior officials from the Border Range in Bhuj. Police Inspector A.D. Parmar of the SOG led the investigation, supported by officers including M.R. Shakaria, D.B. Vaghela, R.L. Chaudhary and T.B. Bari, along with other SOG personnel.
Officials said strict legal action has been initiated against the accused under relevant provisions, and further investigation is underway to ascertain any wider network or links.
