May 03, 2026
Gir: The Kesar mango season has begun in the Gir region, with a local farmer exporting 800 boxes to Canada in an early shipment this year.
Chetanbhai Mendpara, a young farmer from Jessapur in Talala taluka, dispatched the consignment via air cargo from Ahmedabad. He has been engaged in mango exports for the past four years through his company, The Mango Mart.
According to Mendpara, the mangoes are processed in compliance with the import regulations of the destination countries. Each box, weighing three kilograms, contains 12 mangoes and is sold in Canada for approximately 45 Canadian dollars.
In addition to Kesar mangoes, the company has also exported Rasnagiri Hapus (Alphonso) mangoes to international markets, including Europe, the United States, and Australia.
Mendpara said preparations are underway to expand exports to more countries, particularly in Europe and North America, during the current season. DeshGujarat
