Palanpur: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday caught a Talati-cum-Mantri red-handed while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000 at Rampura (Dama) Gram Panchayat in Deesa taluka of Banaskantha district.
According to the ACB, the complainant had carried out development works in Rampura village under the 15th Finance Commission. For approving the bills related to these works and issuing the necessary clearance, the accused, Kirti Kumar Ramabhai Prajapati, serving as Talati-cum-Mantri at Rampura (Dama) Gram Panchayat (Class-3), allegedly demanded an illegal bribe of Rs 15,000 as a percentage commission.
Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant approached the ACB and lodged a complaint. Acting on this, the ACB arranged a trap during which the accused met the complainant at the designated location, accepted the bribe amount of Rs 15,000, and was caught red-handed, thereby committing the offence.
