BJP Wins Umreth Bypoll in Gujarat by Margin of 30,000+ Votes

Umreth: The counting of votes for the Umreth Assembly by-election has concluded with a victory for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), as its candidate Harshadbhai Govindbhai Parmar secured a decisive lead after the completion of all 23 rounds of counting. The BJP candidate registered a winning margin of 30,743 votes.

According to official figures from the Election Commission of India, Parmar polled 85,500 votes (58.88%), defeating Bhrugurajsinh Chauhan of the Indian National Congress, who secured 54,757 votes (37.71%). Harshad Parmar is the son of former late MLA Govindbhai Parmar, whose demise had necessitated the by-election on the seat.

Among other contestants, Maulik Vinubhai Shah of the Bharatiya National Janata Dal received 773 votes (0.53%). Independent candidates Jiteshkumar Ghanshyambhai Sevak (Jitubhai Sevak) secured 435 votes (0.30%), Nirupaben Natvarlal Madhu polled 626 votes (0.43%), and Mahendrabhai Natvarbhai Parmar received 786 votes (0.54%).

A total of 2,335 voters (1.61%) opted for NOTA (None of the Above). Overall, 1,45,212 votes were counted in the constituency, including 1,45,006 votes recorded through EVMs and 206 postal ballots.

The result reinforces the BJP’s strong position in the constituency, with the party securing a comfortable win in the by-election. DeshGujarat
