Amreli to Get New GIDC Estate After 40 Years: Minister

Amreli: After a gap of nearly 40 years, the Gujarat government has approved a new GIDC estate in Amreli to boost trade and industrial development. The project is expected to commence in the coming days, Minister of State Kaushik Vekariya announced at an event of the Amreli District Chamber of Commerce.

Addressing the gathering, Vekariya said that one of the long-pending demands of local traders for a GIDC has now been resolved. The new GIDC will be developed near Shedubhar village, at a site selected by chamber office-bearers. He added that all necessary procedures have been completed, and the state government will soon formally roll out the project.

Highlighting broader development plans, the minister said Amreli city is being planned as a model city, with multiple infrastructure initiatives underway. These include the construction of traffic circles, a riverfront project worth ₹110 crore, and an ongoing ring road project.

Additionally, the state government has approved ₹95 crore for a railway overbridge on Lathi Road, which is expected to be completed within a year.

Several dignitaries, including P.P. Sojitra, industrialist Dineshbhai Bhuva, Ketanbhai Dholakiya, and Kalubhai Bhanderi, also addressed the event. The vote of thanks was delivered by District Chamber of Commerce president Chaturbhai Akbari. DeshGujarat
