IMD Forecasts Rain in These Parts of Gujarat During Next 24 Hours

Ahmedabad: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light to moderate rain and thundershowers at isolated places in parts of Saurashtra-Kutch today, while hot and humid weather conditions are expected to intensify across coastal areas of Gujarat from May 9 onwards.
According to the latest weather bulletin issued by the IMD, isolated rainfall is likely in Rajkot, Morbi, Botad, Amreli, Bhavnagar, and Kutch districts till 8:30 am on Thursday. The remaining parts of Gujarat are expected to witness mainly dry weather.
The IMD said dry weather conditions are likely to prevail across Gujarat, Saurashtra-Kutch, Diu, Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli from May 7 to May 13 after the brief spell of rainfall activity.
The weather department has also forecast hot and humid conditions over coastal areas of Gujarat and Saurashtra-Kutch from May 9 to May 12. No major change in maximum temperatures is expected during the next three days, following which temperatures may rise gradually by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius across the region.
Rajkot recorded the highest maximum temperature in the state at 42.3 degrees Celsius during the past 24 hours.
According to the IMD, a western disturbance currently persists as a trough in the westerlies over northern parts of the country, while an upper air cyclonic circulation remains active over southwest Rajasthan. Southwesterly to westerly winds are prevailing over Gujarat at lower levels.
For Ahmedabad city and adjoining areas, the IMD has forecast a partly cloudy sky till Wednesday morning, with the maximum temperature likely to hover around 41 degrees Celsius. DeshGujarat
