Kandla Port, GH2 Solar Ink MoU to Develop Roadmap for Liquid Green Hydrogen Export

Kandla: The Deendayal Port Authority (DPA), which operates Kandla Port, on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with GH2 Solar Limited to undertake a joint feasibility study and prepare a strategic roadmap for enabling liquid green hydrogen exports from Kandla Port.

The initiative aims to strengthen sustainable maritime operations by creating a strategic framework for green energy logistics at the port.

Under the agreement, a feasibility study will be conducted to identify the modern infrastructure required for the storage, handling, transportation and international export of liquid green hydrogen from Kandla Port in the future. In addition, a long-term strategic roadmap for low-carbon maritime trade, clean fuel logistics and green shipping will also be prepared.

It is noteworthy that Kandla has already been accorded special priority as a green hydrogen hub under the Central Government’s National Green Hydrogen Mission. The Port Authority has allocated thousands of acres of land for clean fuel projects such as green hydrogen, green ammonia and green methanol.

Officials said the new MoU is expected to directly connect Kandla’s green energy potential with global trade and export-oriented businesses.

Kandla Port has been implementing several major green energy projects over the past year. The country’s first ‘Made in India’ 1 MW Green Hydrogen Plant is already operational at the port, and efforts are underway to further enhance its capacity.

With the proposed study for liquid green hydrogen exports, Kandla is poised to emerge not only as a manufacturing hub but also as a key maritime gateway in the global green energy supply chain. DeshGujarat
