Ahmedabad: Gujarat has taken another major step towards strengthening India’s semiconductor manufacturing ambitions, with Malaysia-based Hotayi Electronics set to invest around ₹700 crore in Sanand over the next 10 years.

Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi on Thursday awarded the Offer cum Allotment (OCA) letter to the company for setting up an advanced semiconductor manufacturing facility at Sanand-II GIDC.

Under the project, Hotayi Electronics, a key supply chain partner of global semiconductor giant Micron, has been allotted 5 hectares of land.

The proposed facility will manufacture DRAM memory modules, solid-state drives (SSDs), server and data centre memory modules, and automotive electronics, including LED lighting and infotainment modules.

Speaking on the occasion, Harsh Sanghavi said the investment would further strengthen Gujarat’s semiconductor and electronics manufacturing ecosystem. He said the use of smart manufacturing and AI-driven automation technologies would accelerate technological advancement at the local level while generating large-scale employment opportunities.

He added that Gujarat has emerged as the preferred destination for global technology companies due to its robust infrastructure and industry-friendly policies. The investment, he said, would also provide fresh momentum to the Centre’s ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ and ‘Make in India’ initiatives. DeshGujarat
