Vadodara: A six-year-old boy suffered injuries after a monkey allegedly attacked him and his mother at Sayajibaug in the city on Wednesday evening. The child sustained a deep injury to his cheek and was rushed to Fatehganj Trust Hospital for treatment.
According to Brijesh Patel, a resident of Surat, his family had come to Vadodara to spend their vacation at his brother’s house. On Wednesday, he visited Sayajibaug along with his wife Priyanka, sister-in-law, and three children.
Patel said the family spent the day at the garden and was preparing to leave in the evening when a monkey suddenly rushed towards them and attacked his wife. While she managed to escape, panic broke out among the children.
“My wife Priyanka, my six-year-old son Niken, and another child ran to save themselves. During the chaos, the monkey either bit or struck Niken on the cheek, tearing the skin,” Patel alleged.
After the incident, Priyanka reportedly searched for Sayajibaug staff and officials for assistance. However, she alleged that no employees or security personnel were present at the spot despite repeated calls for help.
The injured child was later taken to Fatehganj Trust Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment.
The boy’s father also alleged negligence in security arrangements at Sayajibaug, claiming that there was “a scam in the name of security” at the popular public garden. DeshGujarat
