AI-Based Driving Licence Test Track Goes Live at Nadiad RTO
May 09, 2026
Nadiad: The Regional Transport Office (RTO) in Nadiad has operationalised an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based driving licence test track equipped with 24 cameras and sensors.
The AI-enabled licence testing process for two-wheelers and four-wheelers has been launched at the main RTO office in Nadiad, making it one of the few such centres in Gujarat, after Anand and Himmatnagar, where the technology has been implemented so far. Notably, the Surat RTO is also expected to launch a similar test track later this month.
Under the new system, candidates appearing for driving tests will receive instant results generated through AI analysis. The outcome of the test — pass or fail — will be sent directly to the applicant’s mobile phone immediately after completion of the examination.
Officials said the technology-driven process is aimed at increasing transparency and reducing human intervention in licence examinations. The AI system monitors driving performance through cameras and sensors installed across the testing track and evaluates candidates based on predefined traffic and driving rules.
Authorities stated that even minor mistakes during the driving test can lead to failure, ensuring that only candidates with proper driving skills and adherence to traffic rules qualify for licences.
A special technical team from Gandhinagar has been deployed at the Nadiad RTO office to oversee the implementation and digital integration of the AI-based system.
Officials added that the new process will speed up licence examinations, save applicants’ time and ensure quicker delivery of licences to successful candidates at their homes within a few days. DeshGujarat
