Traffic Diversion Announced for Rajkot-Jetpur Six-Lane Project Work
May 09, 2026
Rajkot: A major traffic diversion will come into effect from May 10 to May 31 for vehicles travelling from Gondal towards Rajkot due to ongoing work on the Rajkot-Jetpur six-lane highway project, authorities announced on Friday.
As part of the diversion plan, vehicles heading towards Rajkot will be rerouted from Khodiyar Hotel through the Vavdi GIDC, Punit Nagar, and Kanzgiya Road stretch to facilitate construction work on the highway corridor.
Officials said the traffic diversion has been necessitated following the approval of a new elevated overpass at Korat Chowk under the highway expansion project. The newly approved overpass is expected to improve long-term traffic management and ease congestion in the city.
However, the addition of the elevated structure has also resulted in delays in the overall bridge construction timeline, officials added.
The expansion of the project has further increased the financial outlay. While the Rajkot-Jetpur six-lane highway project was initially estimated at around Rs. 1,200 crore, the revised cost has now surged to nearly Rs. 1,500 crore following the inclusion of additional infrastructure components.
Authorities have appealed to commuters to follow the designated diversion routes and traffic signage during the construction period to avoid inconvenience and congestion. DeshGujarat.
