Keonjhar: In a swift police operation, Ghasipura police in Odisha rescued two tile businessmen from Gujarat who were allegedly abducted and assaulted over a payment dispute involving ₹14.5 lakh. Two accused, including the main suspect, have been arrested.
According to the complaint lodged by the victims, Jaman Bhai and Chhagan Bhai, both tile businessmen from Gujarat had supplied material to Mahalakshmi Tiles owned by Bajrang Lal. When the Gujarat-based suppliers demanded payment of their pending dues of around ₹9 lakh, the situation turned violent.
The victims alleged that Bajrang Lal detained them at his residence, subjected them to physical assault and coercion in an attempt to force a lower settlement. The matter escalated when the accused allegedly forced the two businessmen into an SUV (Odisha-registered vehicle) and attempted to abduct them while demanding ₹14.5 lakh.
Acting on timely information, Ghasipura police intercepted the vehicle on the road, rescued Jaman Bhai and Chhagan Bhai, and arrested Bajrang Lal along with his driver Munna Ram. The vehicle used in the alleged abduction was seized by the police.
A case has been registered at Ghasipura police station under relevant sections of the Bharat Nyay Samhita for abduction, wrongful confinement, assault and other charges. Both accused have been produced before the court and forwarded to judicial custody.
The two Gujarat businessmen expressed gratitude to the Ghasipura police for their prompt and effective action, which helped secure their release and safety. They praised the police team for their quick response in a sensitive inter-state business dispute. Police said the investigation is ongoing. DeshGujarat
