Ahmedabad: Ahmedabad Cybercrime Police arrested a 40-year-old construction businessman for allegedly sending bomb threat emails to Gujarat State Aviation Infrastructure Company Ltd (GUJSAIL) at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport and several schools in the city.
The police identified the accused as Bhavesh Patel, a resident of New Pushpak Society in Sardarnagar-Hansol area. On March 25, Patel sent threatening emails warning of bomb blasts at GUJSAIL and multiple schools. He also demanded the release of an individual named Saurab Biswas and made references to Eid while claiming nationwide school bombings.
Cybercrime DCP Lavina Sinha said the cyber cell registered a case and launched a swift investigation. A team led by Inspector MH Bhetariya traced the threatening Gmail account using digital forensics, technical surveillance and human intelligence. The trail led investigators directly to Patel’s residence in Hansol, where police arrested him.
Officers recovered crucial evidence, including incriminating data from his phone, which links him to the bomb threat emails.
Gujarat Cybercrime Police, known for its expertise in tackling digital offences, acted promptly on the sensitive case that triggered security alerts at the airport and educational institutions. Such threats create panic among the public and put pressure on law enforcement agencies to respond quickly while maintaining high-level security at vital installations like GUJSAIL, which manages aviation infrastructure across Gujarat.
The arrest highlights the growing use of cyber means to spread terror and panic. Police said they are investigating the motive behind the threats and whether the accused acted alone or had any accomplices. DeshGujarat
