Western Railway Shifts Mumbai Central AC Special Train Terminal from Vatva to Maninagar
May 12, 2026
Ahmedabad: Western Railway has changed the terminal station of its popular weekly AC Special trains between Mumbai Central and Maninagar from Vatva to Maninagar station for the convenience of passengers.
The decision comes after Western Railway reviewed passenger feedback and operational requirements. Both Train No. 09082 (Maninagar–Mumbai Central AC Superfast Special) and Train No. 09081 (Mumbai Central–Maninagar AC Superfast Special) will now originate and terminate at Maninagar station instead of Vatva.
According to the revised schedule, Train No. 09082 will depart from Maninagar every Friday at 22:40 hours and reach Mumbai Central at 07:10 hours the next day. In the return direction, Train No. 09081 will leave Mumbai Central every Thursday at 23:20 hours and arrive at Maninagar at 07:25 hours the following day. The trains will operate between May 15 and May 26, 2026.
Western Railway, headquartered in Mumbai and responsible for rail operations across Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and parts of Madhya Pradesh, serves millions of passengers every year. The shift of the terminal to Maninagar — a major station in Ahmedabad with better connectivity and passenger amenities — is expected to make boarding and alighting more convenient for travellers from Ahmedabad and surrounding areas.
Halts and Booking Details
The special trains will halt at Vadodara, Surat, Vapi and Borivali in both directions. Booking for these trains is already open at PRS counters and through the IRCTC website.
This change is likely to benefit a large number of passengers from central and eastern Ahmedabad, as Maninagar station offers superior road connectivity, auto-rickshaw and cab services, and proximity to major residential and commercial areas compared to Vatva. Western Railway frequently introduces such adjustments to enhance passenger experience on the busy Mumbai–Ahmedabad corridor, which sees heavy rush throughout the year.
Passengers are advised to check the latest schedule and book their tickets early as these special services usually witness heavy demand. DeshGujarat
