ACB Gujarat Busts Bribery Case in Bhavnagar; Retired Mamlatdar, Driver Booked

Bhavnagar: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Bhavnagar, has registered a bribery case against a retired Mamlatdar and an outsourced driver of the Ghogha Mamlatdar office for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe from a complainant.

The accused have been identified as:

  • Prakashbhai Devrakhi Suva, former Mamlatdar of Ghogha (now retired)
  • Chetanbhai alias Bablubhai Harshadbhai Sorathia, outsourced driver at the Ghogha Mamlatdar office

According to the ACB, the accused allegedly demanded ₹1 lakh from the complainant in exchange for not detaining a truck loaded with soil. The amount was later reduced to ₹75,000, and finally settled at ₹55,000.

During the operation, the accused allegedly accepted ₹40,000 from the complainant before the trap and continued demanding the remaining ₹15,000.

The ACB stated that the accused misused their positions and failed to perform their duties honestly, allegedly seeking personal financial gain. A case has been registered under Sections 7(a) and 12 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (Amendment-2018).

The case was registered by T.S. Rizvi, Police Inspector, ACB Bhavnagar Police Station, under the supervision of S.N. Barot, Assistant Director, ACB Bhavnagar Unit, while Baldevsinh Vadhela, Deputy Director, ACB Rajkot Division, was the officer in charge.
