Suspicious Ghee Stock Worth ₹8.28 Lakh Seized in Deesa; Four Samples Sent for Testing

Deesa: The Food and Drug Regulatory Department, Palanpur Circle Office, has launched a crackdown on suspected ghee products in Deesa and seized a large quantity of stock during inspections conducted across multiple establishments.
The inspection drive was carried out by Chief Food Safety Officer H.V. Gurjar along with Food Safety Officers M.L. Gurjar and E.S. Patel. Officials conducted checks at three separate firms involved in the production and sale of ghee products in Deesa.
During the operation, four samples of suspected ghee were collected under the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, for laboratory analysis. Authorities also seized a total of 1,444 kilograms of ghee stock worth approximately ₹8.28 lakh.

Among the establishments inspected was Tasvi Marketing and Dairy Products, where a sample of “Parivar Cow Ghee” 500 ml pack was taken and 448 kg of stock valued at ₹2.68 lakh was seized. At Bahuchar Dairy Product in Deesa’s Banas Industrial Area, officials collected a sample of “Kaviraj Cow Ghee” packed in 15 kg tins and confiscated 449 kg worth ₹2.51 lakh.
At Jayveer Marketing and Dairy Products, authorities collected samples of “Shreshtha Cow Ghee” and loose ghee products. A stock of 547 kg worth ₹3.08 lakh was also seized from the premises.
Officials further revealed that the inspected firms were allegedly operating without valid licences, a violation identified during the investigation. Legal proceedings under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, have been initiated against those responsible.
