Ahmedabad Police Notifies Zone 8 Structure, Three New Divisions Begin Operations

Ahmedabad: Following the Gujarat government’s decision to create a new police zone for Ahmedabad, the city police on Monday issued a detailed notification outlining the structure of the newly formed Zone 8 and three new police divisions, which will become operational from midnight on May 19.

The order, issued by the office of Police Commissioner G.S. Malik, details the administrative framework, staffing pattern, and redistribution of police station jurisdictions under the revised policing structure. Officials said the move aims to reduce pressure on existing zones and strengthen law enforcement in the rapidly expanding eastern and northern parts of the city.

The newly created divisions include P Division under Zone 2, and R Division and S Division under the newly established Zone 8.

According to the notification, P Division will operate from Chandkheda Police Station, R Division from Odhav Police Station, and S Division from GIDC Vatva Police Station.

The state government has approved 10 posts for Zone 8, including a Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP)-rank officer, inspectors, constabulary personnel, and support staff. In addition, 42 posts have been sanctioned for the three newly formed divisions.

Each division will be headed by an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP)-rank officer and supported by inspectors, assistant sub-inspectors, head constables, and constables.

Under the revised jurisdiction structure, Odhav, Nikol, and the proposed Vastral Police Station will come under R Division, while Vatva, GIDC Vatva, and Ramol police stations will fall under S Division. Meanwhile, Chandkheda, Sabarmati Riverfront East, and the proposed Motera Police Station will be placed under P Division. DeshGujarat
