Manisha Garnala to Shut for 2.5 Months for Utran Railway Station Work in Surat
May 19, 2026
Surat: Western Railway has announced a temporary closure of vehicular movement through the Manisha Garnala underpass near Utran Railway Station from May 20 as part of bridge expansion work associated with the Utran Satellite Station development project.
The closure applies to Bridge No. 454, popularly known as the Manisha Garnala culvert. Officials said the underpass will remain inaccessible to road users until July 1, with the work scheduled ahead of the monsoon season.
The expansion is part of the broader Utran Satellite Station project, which includes the addition of new railway lines, expansion of platforms, and improvements to passenger facilities.
Western Railway PRO Anubhav Saxena said expansion work has been planned on both sides of Bridge No. 454 near Utran Railway Station. He clarified that although residents commonly use the structure as an underpass, it is officially a drainage waterway. To facilitate the safe and timely execution of the project, traffic movement beneath the bridge will be temporarily suspended.
Railway authorities said alternate arrangements have been made for commuters, with traffic being diverted through the nearby Road Over Bridge (ROB) No. 454. DeshGujarat
