Surat: The growing menace of stray dogs in Surat city and nearby villages has once again sparked concern after a disturbing incident emerged from the Khanpura area of Limbayat, where a pack of stray dogs attacked a young child playing near his house. The incident, captured on CCTV, has triggered fear among residents and renewed questions over the civic body’s response to repeated complaints regarding stray dog attacks.
According to CCTV footage that has now gone viral, the child was playing outside his residence when a group of stray dogs suddenly pounced on him and bit him, leaving him injured.
The incident has heightened panic in the locality, where residents claim the number of stray dogs has increased significantly in recent months. Parents in the area say they are now reluctant to allow their children to play outdoors unsupervised, fearing similar attacks.
Residents alleged that multiple written and verbal complaints regarding the stray dog problem had already been submitted to the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC), but no concrete action had been taken to control the situation.

According to reports, the incident occurred around 9 am on Tuesday at the premises of Shivani Pipe Factory in Pipodara, where the child, identified as Priyansh, son of labourer Nileshbhai, was playing near a room inside the factory campus.
