IMD Forecasts Light Rain in Few Districts of Gujarat on May 22-23

Ahmedabad: While most parts of the state are expected to continue witnessing intense summer conditions, with temperatures remaining above 40°C at isolated places over the next week, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light to moderate rain and thundershower activity in parts of South Gujarat and Saurashtra during the coming days.

According to the IMD’s seven-day forecast issued on May 21, isolated places in Navsari, Valsad, Tapi, and Dang in South Gujarat are likely to receive light to moderate rain or thundershowers between May 22 and May 23. Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli are also expected to witness similar weather activity during this period.

In Saurashtra, districts including Amreli and Gir Somnath are likely to receive rainfall from May 22 onward, while Bhavnagar has also been included in the rain forecast for May 23. Diu is expected to witness isolated rain activity during the same period.

The IMD stated that dry weather conditions are likely to prevail across most parts of Gujarat before and after the brief spell of rain activity. No weather warning has been issued for any district during the next seven days.

Meanwhile, temperatures are expected to remain high across the state, with no major change forecast over the next week. The weather department said maximum temperatures are likely to remain above 40°C in isolated pockets of Gujarat.

Ahmedabad recorded the highest temperature in the state at 43.7°C during the last 24 hours and is expected to witness a maximum temperature of around 43°C with mainly clear skies on Thursday. DeshGujarat
