Vijapur: An alleged audio clip purportedly featuring BJP’s Vijapur MLA Dr. C. J. Chavda has sparked a major political controversy in Gujarat. In the viral clip, Chavda is allegedly heard claiming that he received Rs 2 crore after switching from Congress to BJP, while others allegedly did not receive more than Rs 50 lakh. The clip also contains discussions related to local self-government elections and alleged financial arrangements for candidates.

The controversy has now brought Mehsana politics into sharp focus, with Dr. Chavda finding himself at the centre of a political storm. In the purported conversation, he is allegedly heard discussing election-related financial transactions, claiming that surveys would be conducted at the taluka panchayat level and selected candidates would receive Rs 50,000 each. The audio further suggests that candidates are not given money to mobilise voters.

The alleged recording also mentions former Gujarat Congress president Jagdish Thakor, including discussions about bringing him into the party fold.

In another part of the audio, Chavda allegedly narrates an incident from a village visit where he encountered a 10–12-year-old boy. According to the clip, the child began discussing politics and remarked that his father used to say candidates who contest elections from Congress and later withdraw their candidacy receive money. Chavda is allegedly heard expressing concern over such a mindset developing at a young age.

The MLA, who had defected from Congress to BJP, is also purportedly heard stating that politics has increasingly become a business. The clip includes remarks suggesting that individuals in politics engage in various businesses and maintain networks to get work done. He is also allegedly heard claiming that Congress would not return to power in Gujarat for the next 10 years.

The names of Ajay Patel and Jagdish Thakor are also reportedly mentioned in the alleged audio clip. However, the authenticity of the viral recording has not been independently verified. DeshGujarat
