Harsh Sanghavi on Switzerland visit
May 26, 2026
Ahmedabad: Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi has embarked on a three-day official visit to Switzerland to attend high-level meetings regarding Ahmedabad’s bid to host the 2036 Summer Olympics. Accompanied by senior IAS officers Ashwini Kumar and Rahul Gupta, the visit aims to facilitate strategic discussions related to preparations for future sporting events.
Meanwhile, in a move to maintain public outreach while abroad, Sanghavi ensured that his international visit did not interrupt his regular engagement with citizens. Recognising that his office typically witnesses a large number of visitors on Mondays, the Deputy Chief Minister conducted a virtual public hearing via video conferencing directly from Switzerland.
Sanghavi, through a video conference, listened to the grievances and representations of citizens who had gathered at his Gandhinagar office. The initiative ensured that administrative processes remained uninterrupted and that public concerns continued to be addressed despite the minister’s physical absence from the state.
India had earlier officially proposed Ahmedabad as the host city for the 2036 Summer Olympics and Paralympics, marking the country’s strongest bid yet to host the Games. The letter of intent was submitted to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) by a high-level delegation in Lausanne, Switzerland, earlier this year. DeshGujarat
