NTPC Begins Nuclear Project Site Studies in Gujarat, Three Other States

New Delhi: State-owned NTPC has begun site selection studies in four states, namely Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and Madhya Pradesh, as part of its long-term plan to develop 30 GW of nuclear power capacity across India.

The move is part of NTPC’s broader energy diversification strategy aimed at supporting the Centre’s target of achieving 100 GW of nuclear capacity by 2047. The company plans to establish nuclear projects in at least 14 states, with investments running into lakhs of crores.

According to NTPC’s post-earnings presentation, potential sites have been identified across multiple states, with feasibility and site assessment work already underway in Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and Madhya Pradesh.

It is learnt that NTPC is expected to soon submit its first feasibility report for a nuclear project to the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) for approval, while studies are also underway in two additional states. DeshGujarat
