Air India Suspends Direct Ahmedabad – London Gatwick Flight for Select August Dates

Ahmedabad: Air India has announced the suspension of its direct Ahmedabad–London Gatwick flight service for select dates in August 2026 as part of a wider network adjustment driven by operational constraints and rising costs.

According to the airline, flight AI 159 from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick (LGW) and return flight AI 160 from London to Ahmedabad will remain cancelled on Saturdays between August 8 and August 29, 2026. The affected Ahmedabad-bound service departs at 1:10 pm and reaches London at 6:25 pm, while the return flight from London is scheduled to depart at 8:00 pm and arrive in Ahmedabad at 9:20 am the following day.

Air India said the temporary suspension is part of a broader revision in flight schedules between June and August 2026 due to operational constraints, including airspace restrictions and increased operating costs. While the airline has not provided route-specific reasons, the Ahmedabad–London suspension is among the key international services affected under the revised schedule.

The direct Ahmedabad–London route is considered an important air link for business travellers, students, and the large Gujarati diaspora in the United Kingdom. The temporary suspension of the weekly service could impact passengers planning travel during the late summer period.

Air India has stated that passengers affected by the cancellations will be offered re-accommodation on alternate flights, complimentary date changes, or full refunds, depending on eligibility.

The airline has also advised travellers to check their flight status and revised schedules before planning their journey to avoid last-minute inconvenience. DeshGujarat
