Talala Kesar Mango Sales Cross 5.26 Lakh Boxes, Farmers Earn Rs 33.72 Crore

Gir: The Kesar mango season at the Talala Marketing Yard completed 38 days on Tuesday, during which over 5.26 lakh boxes (10 kg each) were sold, surpassing the total sales recorded during last year’s entire 44-day season.

Last year, the yard received 4,49,450 boxes of 10 kg each during the full season. In comparison, this year has already witnessed a significant increase in arrivals within just 38 days. Along with higher arrivals, prices have also remained stronger than last year.

According to Marketing Yard Chairman Sanjaybhai Shingala, the average price per box last year stood at Rs 560, while this season, boxes have so far fetched an average price of Rs 640.

Shingala said that during last year’s 44-day season, Kesar mango farmers earned around Rs 25.17 crore through the sale of 4,49,450 boxes. This year, however, farmers have already earned approximately Rs 33.72 crore from the sale of 5,26,520 boxes within just 38 days.

Mango growers have expressed satisfaction with the prices received for Kesar mangoes at the Talala Marketing Yard so far.

Kesar season expected to continue until June

The Kesar mango season, which began on April 19 at the Talala Marketing Yard, is expected to continue until June, according to Yard Secretary Rameshbhai Dand.

He said Talala Panthak has witnessed a bumper Kesar mango crop this year, which is likely to extend the season. However, he noted that the duration of the mango season largely depends on the arrival of monsoon rains. DeshGujarat
