Traffic Restrictions, Diversions Extended on Kalupur Bridge Due to Bullet Train Work
May 27, 2026
Ahmedabad: Vehicular movement on a 500-metre stretch of Kalupur Bridge will continue to remain closed during night hours from May 27 to May 31 due to segment launching work being carried out under the ongoing Mumbai–Ahmedabad Bullet Train project, officials said.
The temporary traffic restriction, which was imposed last week for construction work on the Sabarmati–Vatwa corridor of the high-speed rail project, has now been extended till the end of this month. According to authorities, the bridge section will remain closed from 12 midnight to 6 am on May 27, 28 and 29, while on May 30 and 31, the closure will remain in effect from 12 midnight to 4 am.
To minimise inconvenience, traffic police have announced alternative routes for commuters travelling towards Kalupur during the closure period.
Motorists coming from the Naroda–Saraspur side can reach Kalupur via Saraspur Circle, Nutan Mill Road, Vorana Roja, Chamunda Bridge and Civil Hospital.
Similarly, commuters travelling from Rakhial–Gomtipur can use the route via Saraspur Circle, Chartoda Cemetery, Apparel Park Metro Station and Anupam Bridge to reach Kalupur.
Drivers approaching from the Astodia–Raipur area have been advised to proceed towards Kalupur Circle through Vanijya Bhavan and Anupam Bridge.
Authorities also stated that trucks coming from the Naroda–GCS Hospital side will be able to travel towards Saraspur and Gomtipur via Kalupur Bridge as per the revised traffic arrangements.
Officials have urged commuters to plan their travel accordingly and use designated diversion routes during the night-time closure period to avoid congestion and inconvenience. DeshGujarat
