Ahmedabad Airport Revamps Terminal 2 Traffic System, Adds More Entry and Exit Gates

Ahmedabad: Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (SVPIA) has revamped the entry and exit system at Terminal 2 to ease traffic congestion that had led to frequent complaints from passengers and motorists.

The airport has increased the number of exit gates from four to 10, including a dedicated VIP lane, while entry gates have been expanded from three to eight. According to airport authorities, the upgraded system has been operational for nearly a month and has significantly reduced bottlenecks outside the terminal.

The move comes amid rising traffic, with around 5,000 to 5,500 vehicles, including private cars, taxis and app-based cabs, passing through Terminal 2 daily. Vehicle movement increased further after Air India shifted all its domestic and international operations to T2.

Earlier, motorists often got stuck near toll booths and exit lanes, sometimes exceeding the airport’s eight-minute free pickup and drop-off window and incurring parking charges.

According to airport officials, vehicles now take about five minutes on average to exit the terminal area, even during peak hours, helping improve traffic flow and reduce delays. DeshGujarat
