June 04, 2026
Ahmedabad: The Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport has commissioned a new aviation fuel station with a storage capacity of 8,000 kilolitres, aimed at enhancing refuelling operations and supporting growing air traffic demand at Gujarat’s busiest airport.
The airport operator said the facility is the country’s largest standalone refueller-based into-plane fuel operation under an open-access model.
Spread over nearly 27,000 square metres, the fuel farm comprises four storage tanks and a fleet of 17 refuellers dedicated to aircraft fuelling operations. Two additional high-capacity refuellers are also planned to further strengthen operational efficiency.
Officials said the facility has been designed to accommodate increasing flight movements while adhering to international safety and quality standards. It features RFID-enabled automated monitoring, advanced filtration systems, and modern fire safety infrastructure. DeshGujarat
