Gujarat Police Arrest 568 Illegal Bangladeshi Nationals in Statewide Operation Delta Hunt

Ahmedabad: In a major statewide crackdown on illegal infiltration, Gujarat Police has arrested 568 Bangladeshi nationals allegedly residing illegally in the state under a special drive named ‘Operation Delta Hunt’ as of 8 am on Thursday morning, according to a government release.

According to official figures released till 8 am, the arrested individuals include 172 men, 282 women, and 114 children. The detainees were found residing in various parts of the state without valid legal documentation, police said.

Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi said the state government would make no compromise on issues concerning Gujarat’s security and public order.

“No compromise will be made with the security and peace of the state,” Sanghavi said, adding that the campaign against illegal infiltration and unlawful settlement would continue in the future.

As per the government release, teams across all districts are continuing search operations and verification drives in areas suspected of harbouring illegal immigrants. Investigations are also underway to identify networks that may have facilitated their entry, settlement, or employment.

The Gujarat Police said strict legal action would be taken against all those found violating immigration and other applicable laws.

The operation is part of the state’s broader efforts to strengthen law and order and address concerns related to illegal immigration and national security. DeshGujarat
