Duo Held for Running Fake Call Centre in Ahmedabad, Cheating Foreign Nationals

Ahmedabad: The Ramol police have apprehended two persons operating a fake call centre from a shop in the CTM area and cheating foreigners on the pretext of personal loans at attractive interest rates. Jay Dave (29) of Amraiwadi and Subrata Naik (35) of Kailash Colony near CTM are the key suspect.
As per the FIR, the police carried out a raid after a tip-off that a pan parlour in Kailash Colony was being used for suspicious activities. While searching, the officers found the electronic devices which were allegedly used by the fraudsters to contact the foreign nationals. During the operation, a laptop and four mobile phones, worth about Rs 1.4 lakh, were seized.
According to the police, the accused obtained online databases and contact details of individuals living abroad. It is alleged that he approached potential victims using various mobile applications with an offer of a personal loan at low interest.
The police claim the accused urged the victims to transfer money on different pretexts, including processing and service charges. However, subsequent to the payments made, no loan was given.
As per police, the duo collected money from several foreign nationals through the scheme, cheating them and violating their trust. Further investigation is underway to identify additional victims and determine the full extent of the fraud. DeshGujarat
