Sharjah Passenger Held at Ahmedabad Airport With Smuggled Gold Worth ₹60 Lakh

Ahmedabad: Customs officials at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport in the city have arrested a passenger who arrived from Sharjah and allegedly attempted to smuggle gold worth nearly ₹60 lakh into the country.
Acting on an intelligence tip-off, officers from the Customs Department and the Air Intelligence Unit kept surveillance on a passenger travelling on an Air Arabia flight from Sharjah. The individual was intercepted while trying to leave the airport through the Green Channel.
During a thorough inspection of his two trolley bags, officials recovered several gold chains along with specially designed gold hooks made from 18-carat and 14-carat gold.
Customs authorities subsequently seized 600 grams of gold, valued at around ₹60 lakh, and arrested the passenger. Further investigation into the case is underway. DeshGujarat
