Ahmedabad Woman Booked for Using Forged Passports to Travel Abroad Multiple Times

Ahmedabad: IGI Airport police in Delhi have booked a 35-year-old woman from Thakkarbapanagar in Ahmedabad for allegedly travelling abroad several times using forged passports.

According to the police, the accused allegedly replaced the original passport holders’ photographs with her own and used the documents to impersonate them during international travel. The crime was originally registered in Delhi, but the probe has now been transferred to Ahmedabad so that the police can also identify and arrest the agents who allegedly helped arrange the forged documents.

The alleged forgery came to light on May 17, when immigration officials at Delhi Airport found inconsistencies in the travel record of the accused woman after she returned from the United States on an emergency certificate.

The detailed investigation revealed that records showed the woman had last legally entered India in August 2024. However, there was no record of her subsequent departure from the country in the Immigration Control System. Later, during questioning, the woman reportedly admitted to travelling out of India on a forged passport provided to her by an agent.

Following this, the immigration authorities filed a police report with the IGI Airport police for cheating, forgery, and using fake documents, as well as for violations of the Passport Act. Efforts are also underway to trace the agents suspected of facilitating the forged travel documents. DeshGujarat
