ACB Gujarat Nabs Cop in Bribery Case

Ankleshwar: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has caught a police head constable red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000 for allegedly facilitating the unfreezing of a bank account. The accused, Sunilbhai Ishwarbhai Parmar, is posted at Bhadkodra Police Chowki under Ankleshwar GIDC Police Station.

According to the ACB, the complainant is a businessman whose business-related bank account had been frozen in connection with a cybercrime case. The accused head constable allegedly contacted the complainant several times over the phone and demanded a bribe to help get the account unfrozen. He later reiterated the demand during a face-to-face meeting and sought Rs 25,000 for the work.

As the complainant was unwilling to pay the bribe, he approached the ACB through its toll-free helpline, 1064. Following a preliminary verification, ACB officials found the complaint to be genuine and laid a trap through the Vadodara City ACB Field Unit.

During the operation, the accused allegedly accepted Rs 25,000 from the complainant outside Patidar Rajwadi Tea Stall on the road from Walia Chowkdi to Bharuch in Ankleshwar taluka. The ACB team immediately apprehended him and recovered the entire bribe amount.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the accused misused his position as a public servant and sought illegal gratification in connection with the matter. Further investigation is underway. DeshGujarat
