Lemon Tree’s Citrus Cafe Delivers Non-Veg Food Instead of Veg Order via Zomato; Fined
June 27, 2026
Jamnagar: In yet another case of an online food delivery blunder, a customer who had ordered veg pasta from Citrus Cafe at Lemon Tree Hotel in the city received a non-veg dish instead.
As per the details, the family of Paresh Chudasama, who lives in the New Jamnagar area, ordered veg pasta through the Zomato application on the night of June 26. The bill was also paid for veg pasta. However, when the family sat down to eat, they were shocked to find non-veg pieces in the pasta.
The customer contacted the hotel management, but after receiving no satisfactory response during the night or the following morning, he finally filed a complaint with the Municipal Corporation’s Food Departmen. The victim’s family expressed their anger, stating that they have never eaten meat and that such negligence had hurt their religious sentiments and beliefs.
After getting the complaint, a team of the Jamnagar Municipal Corporation’s Food Department verified the order details and photographs before inspecting Citrus Cafe. During the probe, the hotel manager admitted that non-veg food had been sent to the vegetarian customer due to human error during parcel packing.
The civic body has imposed a fine of ₹10,000 on the establishment. Samples of the food items were also collected for laboratory testing. DeshGujarat
